We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our Kid’s Club school holiday trip to Butterfly Creek! The van was full of excited kids, big smiles, and plenty of chatter as we set off on our adventure.
We started at Pirate Cove before heading into the butterfly enclosure. The heat hit us straight away, but no one seemed to mind once the butterflies started fluttering around us. Their colours and patterns had everyone stopping to point them out – it was pretty magical.
From there it was on to meet the animals – crocs, kiwis, otters, tamarins, meerkats, porcupines, and even alligators. The kids were full of questions and energy as we wandered along the trail. Dinosaur Kingdom was another highlight – those giant creatures made the perfect backdrop for a group photo (though getting everyone to look at the camera at once was nearly impossible!).
After a couple of loops on the train ride (always a favourite) the farmyard wrapped things up nicely – feeding the animals, climbing tractors, and showing off some very creative “driving” styles. Luckily, those tractors weren’t moving anywhere!
After all that exploring, McDonald’s was the perfect way to finish the day. Happy Meals all round, full tummies, and even bigger smiles as we headed home.
It really was a day packed with fun, laughter, and memories the kids, volunteers and team won’t forget anytime soon.
